As time-consuming as self-editing is, I can't trust a 'professional' to do it for me cos my voice will get lost in the pursuit of pleasing the wrong readers. That's the problem with most books about our sons. The tendency to use a formula where scholars are merely talking to one another without the book ever actually reaching the youth. Don't get me wrong. It's nice to have your name and book blasted on a billboard. But if the young ones ain't feelin' you and your words, mission was not accomplished. Best to let the likes of Tupac and Biggie do the checking!
